History of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Ganesha is the youngest son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. There are various stories behind his birth but two of them are the most common. According to the first story, Ganesha created Parvati from dust from his body to protect her in the absence of Shiva. Casey gave him the job of guarding his bathroom door while she bathed.Meanwhile Lord Shiva returned home and Ganesha who did not know who Lord Shiva was stopped him. This angered Shiva and he beheaded Ganesha after the tiff between the two. Upon learning this, Parvati became angry; Lord Shiva promised to resurrect Ganesha. The gods were sent to search for the head of the child facing north. But they could only find the elephant's head. Shiva placed the elephant head on the body of a child, and how Ganesha was born.
Another well-known story is that the gods requested Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati to create Ganesha so that he would be a magician (creator of obstacles), thus Vighnahartha and help the gods.
